Making a Good First Impression
We live in a judgmental world. All it takes is a small quick glance and people are immediately sizing you up by your appearance, demeanor, and manners. Once you meet a person for the first time, it can’t be undone. You know what they say, you have only one chance to make that first impression, so make sure it’s a good one! Whether you have a job interview or if you are meeting new people, it will be worth your while to prepare mentally and physically for making a good first impression.
A great way to make a good first impression is to always be on time. If you are meeting someone for the first time, don’t give them any excuses as to why you are late. No one likes to wait, and hearing a lame excuse is almost worst than waiting. Being late sends a message that you don’t care enough and that you don’t value the time of the person you are meeting. It is better to arrive early and be the one to wait.
Obviously, your appearance is extremely important when you are trying to make a good impression. You have to make sure that you are dressed for the appropriate occasion. Over or underdressing can give a negative impression. Proper grooming is also very important; make sure you have a good shave or haircut. If you have a long beard or mustache style, make sure you use a cedarwood beard conditioner. If you're shaving, make sure you check out our shaving cream and shaving brush for the ultimate shave. As well as our other premium grooming products.
Dressing the right way has other benefits too. When you dress appropriately, and you know you look great, you will feel more confident when you meet someone for the first time.
Smiling can also make a good first impression. If you have a frown on your face or appear stressed when you meet someone for the first time, it can have a negative effect. A confident and warm smile can put you and the person that you are meeting at ease. You should not go overboard, though, you don’t want to seem too nice.
The conversation that you have when you meet someone for the first time can cause a good or bad impression. It is good to have some conversation ideas ready before you meet someone.
Make sure you show the person that you are interested in what they have to say. You can ask them questions about what they like to do or if you have something in common. When you meet someone for the first time, you can be really nervous, so it is good to be prepared with questions and topics to talk about.
Body language can actually speak a thousand words. If you are slouching or not making eye contact, you may appear timid. It is good to stand tall, smile, make eye contact and greet them with a handshake. Keep your hands clean and smooth with our hand repair lotion and walnut hand and foot scrub.
Showing that you are confident can make the other person feel at ease. Be aware of any nervous habits or ticks that you do when you are anxious, so you don’t look a bit crazy and won’t make the other person feel nervous.
Everyone wants to make new friends or get their dream job so a little preparation can go a long way. Remember to just be yourself and swallow your nerves so you can make a really good impression.
