You can have the perfect clothes but if you don’t take care of yourself it won’t mean a thing. You still won’t look your best. How do you look your best, no matter what you’re wearing? Read on for our 10 Tips for Personal Hygiene from men's skincare experts:
1. Put your best face forward
It might seem obvious, but keeping your skin clean and smooth can go a long way when it comes to looking good. And it doesn’t need to be complicated. All you need is one of the best facial cleansers for men that doesn’t irritate your skin and makes you feel clean, and a moisturizer or aftershave to keep your skin from drying out.
2. Watch the hair
Whether you have a buzz cut, long flowing locks, or something in between, your hair should be clean. Get to know what works for you. Find your perfect routine and stick to it. Don’t be afraid to use hairspray to smooth it down. Just a little bit of product can make all the difference. Be sure to check out some of the men's hairstyle trends for the summer!
3. Floss is your friend
It’s been said that a smile is the shortest distance between two people, so whether you’re trying to impress a date or a customer your mouth is something you can’t neglect. If you hate flossing and find it awkward wrapping that waxed string around your fingers and trying to fit your hands in your mouth flosser picks are a lifesaver.
4. Take care of that tongue
While using mouthwash is most people’s go-to for getting rid of bad breath, you can accomplish the same thing by just brushing your tongue when you brush your teeth, since the bacteria that builds up on your tongue is where bad breath comes from in the first place.
5. Quench your thirst
Staying hydrated is key to looking your best. Not getting enough fluids throughout the day can cause chapped lips, bad breath, flaky skin, wrinkles, and just makes you look tired overall. Learn about the The importance of water.
6. Trim those nails
Nails are a pain. They get dirt under them, they get caught on things, and they rip. Clip them at least once a week over your sink when you’re getting ready, though, and you’ll be good to go. Keep them clean and short and use a file on any jagged edges.
7. Rugged, not ragged hands
Depending on your job and the climate where you live, the skin on your hands might get pretty dry. While they don’t need to be baby soft, you don’t want them to be chapped and rough, either. The same goes for your cuticles, the skin around your nails. There are lots of different hand lotions and creams out there, but what’s most important is applying cream after washing your hands to lock in moisture.
8. Tame that scruff
However you like to wear your facial hair, you can’t just let it do its own thing. Even a long beard requires some trimming and shaping. And just like the hair on your head, it should be kept clean and styled. Be sure to look into our shaving cream and shaving brush for the ultimate shave, or possible a cedarwood beard conditioner for your long beard or mustache styles. 9. Smelling mainly verses smelling funky
Colognes and heavy scented body washes might not be your thing, but you still want to smell clean; you want to find one that smells good but is not overpowering.
10. Getting enough shut-eye
They don’t call it beauty sleep for nothing; getting enough sleep, meaning seven to nine hours a night for adults, isn’t always practical, but is worth aiming for on a regular basis. Not only will it help you be more alert, you’ll look and feel better.
