How to Take Care of Your Razor

by Zack Evar |

There is nothing, absolutely nothing worst then a dull razor scratching your skin. The sound…the burning sensation…the after shave bumps and irritation. So how can you take care of your razor to make sure it is always in tip-top shape? Here are a few quick tip on how to take care of your razor:

Give your blades a new life!

There are many interesting products on the market today aimed at cleaning your razor. Razor Pit is one that we love. It uses “patented friction technology” to enhance the shaving experience by constantly restoring your blades. It uses silicon known as a thermoplastic elastomer to achieve this. Using Razor Pit is said to make your blades last 6 times longer!

Clean Your Blades

If you are using a straight edge blade, you can effectively soak them in Barbercide or rubbing alcohol. This will disinfect your blade and will help prevent irritation and razor bumps. Just remember not to leave it in the solution for too long to prevent rust from forming. Make sure you clean off our shaving cream which includes charcoal for men's skin and use our shaving brush as well for the ultimate shave. If you have a long beard or cool mustache style, be sure to check out our beard conditioner.

Take Your Razor Apart

As much as I try, when I disassemble my razor once in a while, I find grime and dirt hidden in the tough to reach places. I highly recommend that if you use a straight razor, just take it a part every few weeks to clean it thoroughly.

Use A Strop

If you are serious about your shaving, don’t be afraid to try a strop. A strop is used to sharpen your blade, while removing any dirt that accumulated on your blade. Simply hang your strop, run the blade along the suede side a few times, and finish off by running it on the smooth side for polishing.

Oil Your Blade

Apply some baby oil to your blade to protect it from corrosion and rust. Your blade will work better and will also perform better on your skin.
