You like to think that you are this strong, sexy guy just oozing testosterone, but this male sex hormone has one nasty side effect. Too much testosterone can cause oily skin which in turn make you prone to acne, blackheads, and other skin issues. Here are a few quick tips on how to deal with oily skin:
Find Soap Alternatives
You may think that your skin is like dishes in the sink and that strong, aggressive soap will just get rid of the oil and grime. Wrong! Guys with oily skin should be very careful not to strip their skins of their natural oils. Your skin will just try to protect itself by producing ore oil. Instead, find mild cleansers that will work well with your natural chemistry. Of course, I highly recommend our own great face wash which is one of the best facial cleansers for men with activated charcoal for men's skin.
Our face wash contains a heaping amount of the stuff, it’s why our product has a wonderful dark color. The charcoal will absorb and trap impurities from the surface of your skin and wash them away as you rinse your face while protecting your natural moisture. Look into hand repair lotion and walnut hand and foot scrub.
Just Relax
High-stress levels can greatly affect your skin and increase your oil productions. Avoid making your glands go into overdrive…just relax (you can read some of our previous blog posts for tips on how to relax.)
Oily Skin? Don’t Forget to Exfoliate
Exfoliating on a regular basis should be a staple of any man’s grooming routine. But for those of us with oily skin, it’s a must! Dead skin cells can combine with sebum to clogs pores and make you prone to acne and black heads.
We recommend the Beau Brummel for Men daily facial scrub. Used weekly, our scrub keeps your skin’s cell turnover on track with gentle yet effective crushed walnut shells to slough off dulling surface cells and reveal a fresh, radiant smooth complexion. Skin looks and feels clean, refined and more youthful. Regular exfoliation helps revitalize skin and diminish the signs of aging. Infusion of caffeine, lavender, menthol, and peppermint oils give your skin a rejuvenated feeling. Also, don't forget to shave with our shaving cream and shaving brush for the ultimate shave.
Moisturize
Don’t believe the myth that oily skin does not need any added moisture. In fact, moisturizing is especially important for those with oily skin, adding balance and hydration while also protecting skin against the environment.
The Gentlemen’s Moisturizer is a lightweight facial moisturizer that works naturally with your skin to promote softness and encourage hydration for a natural look. Infused with Argan oil, a noncomedogenic (or non-clogging) natural moisturizer, The Gentlemen’s Moisturizer is perfect for everyone’s skin. Activated charcoal draws out and absorbs toxins from your pores while caffeine gives your skin an energized look and feel. Made from natural oils and plant extracts, this formula will tone and strengthen your skin. The Gentlemen’s Moisturizer will also protect your skin from UV rays. If you have a long beard or cool mustache, look into our cedarwood beard conditioner. As well as our other premium grooming products.
Try a Mask
A mask is great for guys with oily skin. A mask is a strong treatment, targeting oil production at the sebaceous glands –going straight to the source. The mask absorbs the oil, making sure pores stay clean and free from grease and grime while preventing pimples and blackheads from forming.
The Gentlemen’s Facial Mask treatment draws out impurities from pores with Kaolin-rich clay and activated charcoal then softens with natural conditioning botanicals. The Gentlemen’s Facial Mask promotes natural skin cell health to help improve smoothness. This invigorating mask will become an essential part of your weekly routine. The result is a refreshed, more vibrant complexion.
