Why Use Activated Charcoal?

Men's Skin Care

Skin care for men isn't a new industry, but right now, it's booming. More and more guys are seeking out products that can help them look and feel their best. We're all for it. With this new popularity, what can get lost in the shuffle is the quality and necessity of ingredients. We're here to shed light on an ingredient that is making headlines in men's skin care - Activated charcoal.

Men's skin is different than women's skin. For starters, men's skin is thicker (if only physically), denser, and more porous. Additionally, those pores tend to be larger in men, and seat glands more active. This creates the perfect conditions for bacterial growth, which can lead to inflammation, acne, and irritation. How do we solve these issues? Continue reading!

Activated Charcoal

Why use activated charcoal? Grey is the new black… at least when it comes to men’s skin care.

Cosmetic grade charcoal, known as activated charcoal, is a natural ingredient that helps to detoxify the skin. Men’s skin contains more natural oils than women’s skin and with more oil comes more impurities on the skin’s surface. How do we get rid of what soap and water leave behind?

The answer is activated charcoal. Activated charcoal is incredibly porous, acting like a sponge; it soaks up the toxins that sit on the skin. The charcoal draws impurities away from the skin through a process called adsorption.

Adsorption is when particles bind to a solid. Charcoal is a very strong adsorbent; its large surface area can attract 100 times its own weight in impurities making it an extremely efficient detoxifier. Charcoal for men's skin is very important!

Our products, including our moisturizer, contain activated charcoal making them excellent at both detoxifying and moisturizing the skin. Created in New York, our charcoal-based formulas will leave your skin looking and feeling its best.
