Grooming While Traveling

by Zack Evar |  | 1 comment

While I love that I get to see and explore new places when I travel for work, keeping up my daily grooming rituals on a business trip is something I admit I have never been good at. After a red-eye flight, a slew of meet and greets, and back to back meetings, the last thing on my mind is grooming. However, the added stress of travel, the lack of sleep, and the dry airplane cabins can do a number to your skin and hair, which means personal upkeep should probably be a priority. This article will give you some tips on how to make grooming while traveling a lot less daunting.

Moisturize!

The low humidity in the cabin air of all planes really dries out your skin and lips. Keep our moisturizer handy for your hands and face. This will help to prevent any flakiness and help get rid of any itchiness. Don’t forget to pack lip balm as well, and to stay hydrated, especially during longer flights. Don't forget to take care of your hands with the walnut hand and foot scrub and hand repair lotion.

Don’t Forget to Wash Your Face

After a long day in a new city, I just want to go straight to bed without washing my face. This is a mistake since pollutants and oil on your face will probably team up with your extra stress levels to give you acne when you get home. I’ve discovered that cleansing my face with one of the best facial cleansers for men not only keeps me clean, it also leaves me feeling cool and refreshed.

You Don’t Have to Give Up Your Wet Shave

After years of only wet shaving, it tends to bother me when I have to use a drug store razor to shave my face in a hotel room. The ultimate shave is something I see as a treat for myself that I often miss when I’m traveling. This is why I made the decision to invest in an additional shaving brush I take with me when I travel. I also bought a storage tube that will keep the bristles clean and in place. I also put my shaving cream, which includes charcoal for men's skin, into a smaller, TSA approved container to complete my shaving kit. If you prefer, you can always get sample sizes or travel sizes of your shaving cream and aftershave, to make the packing process easier.

BRUSH

Low-Maintenance Hair

No matter how good my hair looks before I get on a plane, it always looks like a moppy mess by the time I arrive to my destination. I’ve found that something water soluble, like a gel pomade is really helpful for last minute, airport bathroom styling. I run some product through my hair and a splash of water before I leave the airport and no one knows that I was sleeping against a window a couple minutes before. If you have a long beard or cool mustache style, use some cedarwood beard conditioner.

As I’ve previously admitted here, I am a last minute packer, so I need personal grooming products that I do not really need to shop around for. One of the best tips that I can give is to invest in a few airport friendly bottles that you can transfer your everyday products into. Trust me, using the same stuff that you have at home not only helps you to look great but also makes you feel great. Leave those hotel room shampoos for the next guest, or take them home as a souvenir!
